Anza Borrego
Where does the time go. Such a busy week. I tried working with different software to be able to load some pictures here of my trip to Anza Borrego desert last Saturday. So far, I've been unsuccessful. I will keep trying and hopefully I'll get it figured out. Just takes time I guess.
Anyway, the trip was great. Vicki and I took off around noonish and headed over the Ortega Highway to Temecula. The rain just pounded us as we went over the mountain. I had to keep a close eye for debris and running water. The wipers were on full blast and that was marginal for viewing the road.
Having made it through the rains, and over the hills, we made it to the valley. WOW! The flowers were popping out all over the place. Yellows, reds, blues and all different shades in between. We stopped numerous times so that I could take pictures. I'd love to show you.
We had lunch at a little bar/restaurant and had a nice burger and soda. It was the quaint little spot you'd expect to find in such a small wide spot in the road. The service was terrible but we didn't care. We enjoyed our lunch and will probably be back.
We condinued on our adventure seeking the desert wild flowers and we weren't disappointed. As we headed out of town, the sides of the roads were lined with blossoms and they bled over into the neighboring shallow areas. The ocotillos were green with red flames on their tips.
We drove through the park to the southern enterance and then headed West on I-8 to San Diego and up the I-5. It was a long day but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
